Preliminary Reopening Plan
Introduction to the CVSD Reopening Plan
On July 16, 2020, the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Department of Health issued their Public Health Guidance Regarding COVID-19 for Phased Reopening of Pre-K to 12 Schools, which will greatly impact our reopening plans. The recommendations and guidance relative to COVID-19 and the reopening of school have continued to change rapidly.
Therefore, the CVSD Reopening and Planning Taskforce has taken a proactive approach to planning for Fall 2020. While we are committed to safely returning to school in-person this fall, we are able to provide families with options -- either in-person instruction or a robust remote learning program. With this, we will also be fully prepared should the state mandate all PA schools to start the year remotely.

Reopening Schools Task ForceBeginning in May, before the 2019-2020 school year was even over, the Chartiers Valley School District, in consideration of the challenges faced during the spring 2020 COVID-19 school closures and in preparation for the upcoming school year, developed a Reopening and Planning Task Force.
The task force, comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators, is charged with developing specific action plans for a safe return to school this fall in various areas such as Facilities and School Operations, Instruction, Technology, Communication, Community Partnerships, and Human Resources.
Guiding Principles for ReopeningAs with all other decisions and functions, District leaders and the Reopening and Planning Taskforce has maintained alignment with the Chartiers Valley Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
