Allegheny County Department of Human Services

Allegheny Department of Human Services was created about two decades ago to meet the needs of human services of Allegheny County redsidents.  They are ready to help families in an emergency or with long term concerns.  Their programs specialize support for individuals and families with low income, mental health (MH), drug & alcohol (D&A), intellectual disability (ID), justice related services, etc.


They have programs and services that will help!


Programs and supports include:


Basic Needs: Emergency help for emergency and long term needs for individuals and families with low income. Supports include child care, employment, food assistance, health insurance, home repair and safety, homeless services, parent and caregiver support, and transportation.

Adults: Services and supports for individuals and families with limited incomes and those with ID, MH, and/or D&A concerns

Children & Families: Services that protect children from abuse/neglect; strengthen families, and help with needs related to limited incomes, ID, MH and D&A.

Older Adults: Services that protect older adults from abuse/neglect; support them as they age; and help with needs related to ID, MH, D&A concerns.

Persons with Disabilities & Special Needs:Find information about mental health, drug & alcohol, intelectual disabilities, justice related services.

Teens & Young Adults:Services to protect young adults from abuse/neglect, supports for transition into adulthood, helps with intellectual disabilities, mental health,a nd drug & alcohol issues.
