New Website

website

The brand new CVSD website has officially launched!

While the initial launch is June 21, it is important to note that the project will continue to evolve as content revisions and creations are made. The timing of this "soft launch" allows users and contributors to become familiar with the new site throughout the summer and for developers to make additions, revisions and adjustments prior to the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

Over the next year, you will notice additional pictures, graphics and information on the site as the project continues to evolve. As members of the CV community and users of the District website, you are invited and encouraged to participate in this project by clicking here to complete the New Website Feedback Form.

I encourage you to read through the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below to fully understand the new website and its launch.

I hope that you find the new site to feature a cleaner, more modern design, with simplified navigation that works great on mobile devices. Please feel free to submit your questions, suggestions and concerns via the New Website Feedback Form

New Website FAQs

What is the URL for the new website?
Good news -- it hasn't changed! No need to edit your bookmarks or try to remember a new URL; just visit www.cvsd.net as you always have.

Why a new website?
Input gathered from parents, students, staff and analytics determined the need for a more modern, mobile-friendly, navigable design. While the former website served the district well for several years, it had reached its life expectancy, and required a complete renovation, including content and technology updates.
The new site is intended to mirror CV's quality and contemporary.

Is the website complete?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: While the initial launch is today, June 21, it is important to note that the project will continue to evolve as content revisions and creations are made. The timing of this "soft launch" allows users and contributors to become familiar with the new site throughout the summer and for developers to make revisions and adjustments prior to the start of the 2019-2020 school year. You will notice that much of the District site is complete; however, the individual school sites are continuing to develop.
Over the next year, you will notice additional pictures, graphics and information on the site as the project continues to evolve. As members of the CV community and users of the District website, you are invited and encouraged to participate in this project by clicking here to complete the New Website Feedback Form.

Which elements of the website can be changed or edited?
The general design elements, colors and layout of most pages is concrete and unable to be changed. However, custom content (e.g. photos, text, forms, etc.) can be changed and moved, and navigation (i.e. where a certain page can be found on the website) can be adjusted. The website committee and Communications Director will evaluate user suggestions and analytics prior to making any major changes.

What are oneClicks?
OneClicks (located at the top right of the new website) are our version of quick links. Based on analytics and committee suggestions, these were the most-clicked-on pages on the former website. If you have suggestions for new/different oneClicks, please submit your suggestions via the New Website Feedback Form.

How do I navigate back to the District homepage or an individual School home page?
At the very top right of every page on the website, you will see the words District and Schools (drop down menu). Click District to return to the home page. Hover over Schools to select the school of your choice.

What are some tips for navigating the new site?
Take some time to click around and navigate through the new site.
You will notice that pages are categorized in the top menu on the district site, and options are generally listed in alphabetical order, except where order of importance takes presidence.
Each school has its own site with consistent navigation between schools, that differs from the District page. You can always navigate back to the District home page or School homepages by using the links at the top right of every screen.
On every page, you should also see right side navigation menus which may display sub-pages for the page you are on. For example, on the About CVSD page, you will see sub-pages on the right which include CV7: Mission & Values, Calendar, Closures & Detours, etcetera.
Finally, there is a search option indicated by the magnifying glass icon, located near the top right of the page as well. This feature is very comprehensive, and will include every page on the site that includes the words in your search.

Why do only some district employees have photographs included in the directory?
Not all faculty and staff have had school photos taken. In 2019-2020 it will be required that all faculty and staff arrange to have photos taken by Lifetouch or comparable service provider at the time school photos are taken.

I am a CV staff member who was able to log-in and contribute content on the old website. Will I have the same access to the new site?
Yes! Several emails were sent prior to the launch reminding faculty and staff to save their website content. In the near future, you will receive login credentials and instructions for creating and updating website content. Don't worry -- it's MUCH more user friendly than it used to be!

Is the old site still accessible?
Simply speaking, the old site has been replaced by the new site. That said, in emergent situations, content from the previous site may be recovered until the contract with the previous provider has expired.
