The most recent contract for the Chartiers Valley Federation of Teachers was implemented in the 2017-2018 school year and expired on June 30, 2022. Click here to read the contract.

  • In the 2021-22 school year, the average salary of a CVSD teacher was $93,457 (before benefits)

  • In 2021-22, 143 of the 247.5 teachers are at the top step- Step 18, which begins at $112,712

  • The average compensation package, including benefits, is $130,090

  • In 2021-22, a teacher with a master’s degree at Step 1 earning $47,970 paid a premium share of $839 annually for a family plan. The total cost to the district for the family plan in 2021-2022 was $20,736.  Healthcare increased by 8% in 2022-2023 and is projected to increase up to 18% in 2023-2024.

  • In 2021-22, a teacher with a master’s degree at Step 6 earning $54,370 paid a premium share of $951  annually for a family plan. The total cost to the district for the family plan in 2021-2022 was $20,736.  Healthcare increased by 8% in 2022-2023 and is projected to increase up to 18% in 2023-2024.

  • In 2021-22, a teacher with a master’s degree at Step 12 earning $64,105 paid a premium share of $1,122  annually for a family plan. The total cost to the district for the family plan in 2021-2022 was $20,736.  Healthcare increased by 8% in 2022-2023 and is projected to increase up to 18% in 2023-2024.

  • In 2021-22, a teacher with a master’s degree at Step 18 earning $116,057 paid a premium share of $2,031 annually for a family plan. The total cost to the district for the family plan in 2021-2022 was $20,736.  Healthcare increased by 8% in 2022-2023 and is projected to increase up to 18% in 2023-2024.
     

  • Dental and vision insurance premiums are paid 100% by the District. The cost to the District is $293,652. Both dental and vision increased by 3% in 2022-2023 and is projected to increase 3% in 2023-2024.

  • In 2021-22, the teacher’s share of healthcare premiums was 1.25% of their salary for an individual and 1.75% of their salary for all other plans, including a family plan

  • In 2022-23, all healthcare premiums increased by 8% and they may increase up to 18%, according to the Allegheny County Healthcare Consortium

  • Teachers who decide to opt out of the District's healthcare receive a $300 a month buyout, or $3,600 a year
