The Chartiers Valley Board of School Directors voted on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, to ratify a four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Chartiers Valley Federation of Teachers. The period covered by the contract is July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2026. The average salary increase is 3.18%. The agreement also provides for increased healthcare contributions as healthcare premiums continue to rise. We are pleased that the negotiation process has resulted in an agreement that provides salary increases for all teachers and also addresses some of the financial concerns and challenges which have been discussed publicly many times. This agreement guarantees the students within CVSD will have no interruption in their education, and school will start on August 30, 2023. The guiding principle for the board was ensuring that no interruption in education took place. CVSD families deserve no less.
The district faces some critical financial decisions in the next year, and we are prepared to work through those issues moving forward. Arriving at an agreement does not lessen our urgency to address the fiscal challenges the Chartiers Valley School District faces, but we are pleased that we were able to come to an agreement with the CVFT.
