How to Effectively Communicate with School Officials

To help parents navigate concerns effectively and reduce frustration, the district encourages following its Chain of Command. This process begins by addressing issues at the level where they occurred, typically with the educator responsible for the class or program. If further escalation is needed, parents can move to the next level of authority. Communication should ideally begin with email, followed by a phone call, and, if necessary, a scheduled in-person meeting. This ensures efficient and productive resolution while fostering clear and open communication.

Public meetings are typically scheduled on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 pm in the Intermediate School Auditorium 2030 Swallow Hill Road Pittsburgh, PA 15220.

Each year, the CVSD School Board and Administrators select two high school students to represent the student body at a monthly school board meetings (typically the fourth Tuesday of the month).  

Student representatives attend monthly public meetings of the Board of Education and provide a report of recent activities, athletics, and initiatives of the student body to the board.

If you have a disability and require a reasonable accommodation to fully participate in a school board meeting, please contact Janelle Kopay 412-429-2201 ext. 2390 to discuss your accessibility needs. ADA accommodation requests should be received 3-5 days before the event for which the accommodations are needed. The School Board shall allow any member of the public with a disability recognized by the American Disabilities Act, or a designated caregiver of such a person, to participate in its meetings via teleconference or video conference, utilizing procedures established by the District to do so.
