Selecting members for the National Honor Society is an important process that designates who will be honored with membership in the nation's most prestigious secondary school organization. Membership in the National Honor Society is based on:

- Service: Each student must obtain 15 points or higher by participating in clubs and/or activities. For example; football, drama club, etc..
- Leadership: In the club or activity, the leadership is the highest position held Example, Captain of football team, President of Drama Club.
- Character: Potential members' names are given to the Faculty Council and administrators in order to make certain that the students who are selected as members are worthy of the honor. Teacher recommendations are also required.
These are the basic criteria which have been established in order to gain membership in the Chartiers Valley Chapter of National Honor Society. These criteria are within the guidelines of the National Honor Society and are a part of the approved Constitution of the Chartiers Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society.
