 Interest in being placed on our day-to-day substitute list?  Please read the following important information!

 

 

Applications for day to day substitutes are accepted all year.  Please send your application packet with the required information listed below with a cover letter noting your interest in being placed on our substitute list.  You will be contacted for an interview once it is received.
  
  
  • Pennsylvania Standard Application
  •  Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
  •  PRAXIS/NTE Scores
  •  FINAL transcripts for all degrees held
  • Clearances current within one year (Act 134, Act 151, and Act 114)
  
Please bring the following originals:
     PA certificate
     All clearances
Driver's License and Social Security card
 
You will be asked to provide a current physical and T.B. test (within 6 months) before you can be listed as an active sub.
 
 

 

Substitute School Nurse
 
Substitute Teachers Requirements:  Valid PA School Nurse certificate - or - Registered Nurse license.
 
If subbing for our school nurses, registered nurses will be required to provide the following documentation for a one-year school nurse emergency certificate.  There is no cost  for the certificate.  You may sub for field trips with only your registered nurses license.

      
  • Form 338G and Form 338E (refer to the "Forms" tab on the Human Resource home page)
  • Copy of your current nursing license
  • Copy of Bachelor's Degree transcripts

School  Bus Drivers

Substitutes - All Areas (Bus Drivers, Cafeteria, Custodial, Playground, Secretarial)We are currently accepting applications for day-to-day substitutes.  Applications may be completed at the Office of Human Resources located at the Administrative Offices, 2030 Swallow Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, or you may download an application from the "Forms" section, complete it and mail it or drop it off at our office.  Be sure to complete the entire application, sign, and date it.  Current substitute rates are as shown below. 

  • Bus Driver Sub Rate - $12.50/hr.
  • Cafeteria/Playground Aide/Secretarial Sub Rate - $7.25/hr.
  • Custodial Sub Rate - $10.00/hr.

 

All positions require the following clearances:  Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance; Act 34 Criminal Record Check and Act 114 FBI fingerprinting.  Prior to employment, applicant will be required to have a current physical and TB test.
