Chartiers Valley utilizes a child find system to locate, identify, and evaluate children who are thought to have a disability and who may be eligible for special education and who reside within the school district’s jurisdiction. Child find data is collected, maintained and used in decision making in the best interest of each student. Child find processes and procedures are updated and evaluated for their effectiveness.

Chartiers Valley uses a variety of sources to disseminate information to the public, organizations, agencies, and individuals on an annual basis. Chartiers Valley uses Twitter, Facebook, the CVSD website, newsletters, email, and the IN Chartiers Valley community magazine to convey information to the community.
Chartiers Valley School District assures that students with disabilities are included in general education programs and extracurricular activities to the maximum extent appropriate in accordance with an Individualized Education program. In addition, the District complies with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Bureau of Special Education’s report revision and notice process.
Chartiers Valley School District follows the state and federal guidelines for participation of students with disabilities in state and districtwide assessments including the determination of participation in the need for accommodations and the methods of assessing students for whom regular assessments are not appropriate.
