Senator Wayne Fontana announced this week that $300,000 in School Safety and Security grants will be awarded to school districts in Allegheny County. This is part of the $12.4 million in safety grants awarded to schools across the state.
Superintendent Dr. Vanatta worked to write the proposal for this grant, for which CVSD was awarded $25,000.
Governor Tom Wolf signed Act 44 into law last summer, establishing the School Safety and Security Committee. The Committee develops criteria and best practices for providing and assessing school security.
The Committee has allocated a total of $52.5 million to the School Safety and Security Grant Program and will award additional grants throughout the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
