ELA students respond to terminal child's wish

ELA students with cards for Jacob

Megan Moore's second grade English Language Arts class designed and wrote letters to Jacob Thompson, a nine year old boy from Maine who is stricken with neuroblastoma. Mrs. Moore discovered Jacob's story on Facebook, and thought it would be a very heartwarming lesson to share with her students about compassion.  Jacob's dying wish is to have holiday cards sent to his hospital room. His favorite animal is the penguin, so that is why many ELA students decided to decorate the cover of their card with penguins.
