As our new Middle School continues to take shape, students have been brainstorming, evaluating and prioritizing ideas for how their new library space and team learning commons can best be used.
All Chartiers Valley 6th and 7th grade students were invited to participate in a series of student focus groups that were held between March and May of this year. Students volunteered to meet several times during 10th period as well as after school.
Using the Luma Institute’s design thinking model as a guide, Middle School students relied on their creative thinking skills and personal experience to make suggestions about how best to maximize the potential of these new and dynamic learning spaces.
Not only did the students who volunteered participate in the focus groups get to add their voice and ideas to the conversation about our innovative, student-centered new school – they also got to take a tour of the new building.

These students will also present their findings at the Chartiers Valley School Board meeting on May 23, 2017. The meeting will take place at the Chartiers Valley Administrative Office (2030 Swallow Hill Road) in the District Assembly Room at 6:30 pm. We invite all Middle School families to attend!
Thank you to all of the students who have committed their time to help make our new Middle School a positive learning environment for all students.
