5th Grade Students Participate in DARE Program

Officer Ed Povirk, Intermediate School SRO, has been using the D.A.R.E. program to educate fifth grade students and help them develop basic skills that they can use to make safe and responsible choices throughout their lives.

The curriculum focuses on five areas:

  • Self-awareness and management
  • Responsible decision making
  • Understanding others
  • Relationship and communication skills
  • Handling responsibilities and challenges

In addition, Scott Township District Judge Craig Stephens visited the Intermediate School on March 17 to talk to students about his role in our community. Judge Stephens also spoke to students about the consequences of alcohol, smoking and substance abuse.

Thank you to the Scott Township Police Department for purchasing the D.A.R.E. workbooks for our students and a new series of drug awareness videos that Officer Povirk is showing in conjunction with the program.
