Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss's birthday were celebrated February 27 - March 3 at the Primary School and all across America. The PS had a full week of activities in conjunction with a Book Fair. Crazy Hat Day on Monday started things off, followed by Tongue Twister Tuesday, where students learned about tongue twisters and wrote some of their own alliterations. Wacky Wednesday featured crazy mismatched outfits and a book swap in the LGI. On Thursday, students were treated to a visit from children's author Jacqui Phillips. Dress Up as a Favorite Storybook Character Day wrapped up the fun-filled week on Friday.
Throughout the week, special guests including administrators Dr. Brian White, Dr. Yvonne Hawkins and Dr. Amy Wodnicki and members of the WPIAL champion baseball team visited classes and read their favorite books to students.
The students in Mrs. Territ's, Mrs. Giancola and Ms. Randall's first grade classes completed an exciting project for Read Across America Week. They were authors and wrote and illustrated their own book. They shared their books at a Reading Camp out. They listened to each others books, had s'mores and did a craft. They also had special guest readers visit their classroom.
