Chartiers Valley Intermediate School Band

Picture representing Band

ol Band

Beginning in the fourth grade, students have the opportunity to participate in the band program. Students who participate in instrumental music attend a small group lesson, once each week for 30 minutes. Instruction takes place during the school day.

Performing Groups

Once the student is able to perform in a group, the Intermediate School offers a variety of musical ensembles to meet students’ interests and skill levels.

Red Band consists of 1st and 2nd year students who have demonstrated basic

musical skills. The Red Band performs in the spring concert only.

Blue Band consists of 1st and 2nd year students who have demonstrated advanced musical skills and a desire to learn more advanced music. The Blue Band performs in both the winter and spring concerts.

Gold Band consists of students who have successfully completed a playing test, performed a selected solo and have a dedication to musical excellence. Although some 4th grade students have qualified for this ensemble, it is mostly for advanced 5th graders.

Auditions will begin in January and end the day before the first afterschool rehearsal in March. The Gold Band performs in the spring concert only.
