Maggie Manhire's illustrations well-received on Woodstock website Maggie Manhire illustration of Alvin Lee

Maggie Manhire has an affinity for Woodstock, NY, the eponymous three day festival held there in 1969, and digital art. Her fondness of the latter two led Maggie to create vector illustrations of every photo of performers on the Woodstock website.

May 23 Board Meeting Recap

The school board recognized several students for their outstanding academic accomplishments at the May 23, 2017 meeting. In addition, Mrs. Adrienne Floro, Middle School Principal, shared findings from the series focus groups revolving around Middle School Learning Culture and Curriculum. Dr. Brian White, Superintendent, and Mr, Nick Morelli, Director of Finance and Operations, presented the preliminary budget for the 2017-2018 school year. 

Pickleball team defeats USC in annual grudge match Pickleball team

One week after a rare school visit by Lou Sherfinski, Ambassador from the USA Pickleball Association, CVHS pickleballers defeated Upper St. Clair 5-4 in their annual grudge match on May 21.

Allegheny County Human Relations Commission Diversity Awards CVHS DIversity Award winners

High School student Tiana Covert received an Allegheny County Human Relations Commission Diversity Awards. In addition, CVHS alumnus, Austin Gutierrez also won an ACHRC Diversity Award for a video he made while in high school last year.

 

 

Solving Real World Problems -- 2017 GIVE Grant GIVE Grant -- Solving Real World Problems

Students in Mr. Poppelreiter’s Engineering Design and Development course spent the spring semester tackling real world problems thanks to a little extra support from a Chartiers Valley Education Foundation GIVE grant.

Reception to Recognize Academic Excellence Academic Excellence honorees

Chartiers Valley High School students were recognized at the sixth annual Reception to Recognize Academic Excellence on May 17. In addition to honoring the outstanding accomplishments of our students, the Chartiers Valley Education Foundation recognized the 2016-2017 GIVE grant winners.

The preschool students in Mrs. Yamatani's Child Care Program celebrated the end of the year with a graduation ceremony on May 18.

Early Child Care Center observes new life of chicks and butterflies Newly hatched chicks

Early Child Care Center students observed the hatching of chicks and metamorphosis of butterflies over a 21 day period.

Having long ago forgotten about the letter they wrote to their future selves as third graders, a group of seniors received a surprise dellivery from their third grade teacher Mrs. Morrocco.

High School Art Show

High School art students are holding an exhibit in the Auditorium Lobby May 11-13 in conjunction with Showcase to display the works they've produced this year under the tutelage of Mr. Barzan,  Mr. McHugh, and Mr. Pisaneschi.

Three seniors recently signed athletic letters of intent to continue playing their chosen sport at the collegiate level.

Primary School students benefit from help of TLCv tutors TLCv tutors and their Primary School students

Primary School students benefit both personally and academically from the extra one-on-one attention they receive two days a week in the classroom from the High School TLCv tutors who logged 638 hours of assistance this year.

Pittsburgh Personalized Learning Consortium

Chartiers Valley School District is part of the Pittsburgh Personalized Learning Consortium. Hosted by the Grable Foundation, the Pittsburgh Personalized Learning Consortium includes educators from neighboring school districts who want to integrate personalized learning into their classrooms. In addition to Chartiers Valley, Avonworth, Baldwin-Whitehall, Burrell, Deer Lakes, Elizabeth Forward, Fox Chapel Area, Fort Cherry, Frazier, North Allegheny, Northgate, Steel Valley and South Fayette plan to participate.

Wear Your Future! Wear Your Future

Chartiers Valley seniors were invited to "wear their future" for a photo with their classmates this spring. From college and technical school to the military and employment, these students all have exciting new challenges ahead of them. Congratulations and best wishes to the Chartiers Valley Class of 2017! 

Remake Learning Days STEM Night

Remake Learning Days is around the corner! Chartiers Valley Intermediate School is participating by hosting "Family STEM Night" on Tuesday, May 16 from 6-8 pm at CVIS.
